Road closures

• Phillimore Street
  Date: 2 Oct | Time: 9am-2pm

  Phillimore Street Southbound between Henry Street & Mouat Street for high pressure jet washing. Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Swan Street, Queen Vic Street & Podger Lane
  Date: 1-2 Oct | Time: 6pm-6am

  The closures are in place to support the asphalt reinstatements prior as a part of the Bridge Project.Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Point Street
  Date: 5-16 Oct | Time: 7am-5pm

  Point Street, between Adelaide Street & Cantonment Street will be partially closed to support the development at 8 Point Street.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Pakenham Street, between Leake Street to Phillimore Street
  Date: 7 Oct | Time: 6am-4pm

  Pakenham Street will be closed to support the development at the corner of Phillimore Street & Pakenham Street. Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist local traffic if required.

• Doepel St x Burns Street 
  Date: 19 Oct | Time: 7am-5pm

  Please be advised there is upcoming works along Doepel Street between Burns St (South) and Pensioner Guard Road for crane lift works.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• South Terrace and South Street intersection
  Date: 30 Sept -11 Oct | Time: 11pm-7amThis closure will be in place for one shift only, to carry out essential drainage works.

• Carrington Street & Winterfold Road 
  Date: 30 Sept – October 2026 | Time: Night works

  Please be advised of the upcoming road closures between

  • Winterfold Road; between Redmond Road and Longford Road – Eastbound Lane only
  • Carrington Street; between Leach Hwy / High St and Marmion Street – both lanes.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Kwong Alley between Pensioner Guard Road and Swan Street, North Fremantle
  Dates: 19 Oct and 7 Dec 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pmThe road will be closed to traffic between 7am and 5pm on the listed dates to allow the safe lifting of multiple air conditioning units onto nearby buildings.
  Access to properties will be maintained via Swan Street, and traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists and pedestrians.
  Waste collection services will continue to have access on scheduled collection days.

Major works

Swan River Crossing

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of the most complex and challenging projects undertaken by Main Roads WA, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close Sunday 1 February, 2026 to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new bridge deck and construction of the new road.
