Road closures

 

  • South St (between South Tce & Hampton Rd)
    Date
    : 11 – 15 May 2026 | Time: 8pm – 5am

    South Street will be fully closed between South Terrace and Hampton Road to enable road resurfacing works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Detours will be in place, and traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • Pakenham Street
    Date: 15 May 2026 | Time: 9am – 3pm

    A temporary road closure will be in place on Pakenham Street to facilitate pole replacement works.
    Traffic controllers and signage will be in place to assist motorists and direct detours as required.


  • Solomon Street
    Date: 25 May 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pm
    A temporary full road closure will be in place on Solomon Street between Stevens Street & Watkins Street to facilitate works.
    All residents within the closure will maintain access to their properties, with traffic control on site to assist motorists and manage detours as required.

  • Wray Ave (between Hampton Rd & South Tce)
    Date
    : 25 – 29 May 2026 | Time: 8pm – 5am

    Wray Ave will be fully closed between Hampton Road and South Terrace to enable road resurfacing works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Detours will be in place, and traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • Marine Terrace – Winter Planting Works
    Dates: 27–28 May 2026

    Please be advised temporary road closures will be in place along Marine Terrace to facilitate winter planting works. Traffic controllers and signage will be in place to assist motorists and manage detours as required.

    27 May 2026

    • Suffolk St to Howard St | 7am – 2pm | Southbound
    • Howard St to Russell St | 9am – 5pm | Northbound

    28 May 2026

    • Russell St to Grey St | 7am – 2pm | Southbound
    • Grey St to South St | 9am – 5pm | Northbound; 7am – 2pm Southbound

  • Parry St (between Beach St & Queen Victoria St)
    Date: 7 June 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pm

    Parry St will be closed to traffic between Beach Street and Queen Victoria Street to facilitate cabling works.
    The right turn from Cantonment Street onto Parry Street will also be closed during these times.
    Traffic management measures, including signage and detours, will be implemented to guide motorists.

Major works

Swan River Crossing

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of the most complex and challenging projects undertaken by Main Roads WA, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close Sunday 1 February, 2026 to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new bridge deck and construction of the new road.
