The works form part of the City’s Low Cost Urban Projects program (installation of asphalt plateaus). Intersection closures are required to safely and efficiently undertake the works and associated after-care activities. Road closures will be implemented throughout June to August 2026 at the following locations:
The project is being managed by the City and funded by Main Roads.
Detours will be in place.
Marine Terrace and Solomon Street will be subject to temporary road closures to enable Water Corporation works to be carried out safely and efficiently. The following closures will be implemented 6 July 2026:
Stack Street will be subject to a road closure at the intersection of Amherst Street to enable water main upgrade works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
All other works along Amherst Street are expected to be completed within the verge area.
Traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.
Caesar Street between Grosvenor Street and Lefroy Road Date: 9–10 July 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pm
The road closure is required to safely complete parking bay and footpath works on Caesar Street between Grosvenor Street and Lefroy Road.
The road will be closed to traffic in both directions between 7am and 5pm on Wednesday 9 July and Thursday 10 July 2026.
Ord Street between High Street and Ellen Street Date: 17 July 2026 | Time: 7pm – 5am
The road closure is required to enable Water Corporation to undertake water service replacement works on Ord Street between High Street and Ellen Street.
The road will be closed to traffic in both directions from 7pm on Friday, 17 July until 5am the following morning. Traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists as required.
Stokes Street, White Gum Valley, will be subject to temporary parking bay and full road closures to enable essential works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
Works are scheduled to commence in mid July 2026 and are expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.
The closures will be in place during standard operating hours, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm.
Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of the most complex and challenging projects undertaken by Main Roads WA, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.
The Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close Sunday 1 February, 2026 to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new bridge deck and construction of the new road.
