The City offers a variety of payment methods to pay your rates, as well as instalment options and financial hardship solutions.
The City offers a variety of payment methods which include the following:
Payment online with a valid credit card via our secure payment gateway (Visa, Mastercard and AMEX). Credit card fees of 0.5% apply. Use your Reference Number, located on the top right-hand side of your rate notice. You can pay your rates via BPAY through your financial institution directly from your bank account or by credit card. Please quote Biller Code: 93708 and your Reference Number located on the top right hand side of your rate notice (see image on the right).
Click here to register online for the direct debit payment option. Payments will be automatically deducted from your nominated bank account on a Friday as per the schedule of payments provided to you. Note: No fees or overdue interest will apply for full state government rebate recipients.
Call 1300 658 371 anytime to pay your rates over the phone by Debit Card, Visa, Mastercard or AMEX.
Pay your rates in person at the City’s administration building (Walyalup Civic Centre, 151 High Street, Fremantle). Present your rate notice to the cashier at the City of Fremantle administration office. Credit card and EFTPOS facilities are available. Cashier hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm

Any Australia Post outlet will accept your payment. Please take your rate notice with you as the printed barcode is required. Please note, credit card payments are not accepted. If you are unable to make payment via any of the options or methods stated on your annual rate notice, please contact the City’s Rates Team to discuss. Paying in full: Pay in one lump sum by Friday 11 September 2026. This is the cheapest way to pay your rates.
Four instalments: Pay over four instalments on Friday 11 September 2026, Friday 13 November 2026, Friday 15 January 2027 and Friday 19 March 2027.
When electing to pay by instalments, costs of the option include interest calculated at 5.50% p.a. plus an administration fee of $14.40 per instalment notice. The instalment option costs are detailed on your annual rate notice. When electing to pay by direct debit, costs of the option include interest calculated at 5.50% p.a. plus an annual administration fee of $33.00. The direct debit option costs are detailed on your annual rate notice.

If a scheduled payment falls near a public holiday, your payment may be processed earlier than usual to allow sufficient banking processing time.

In certain circumstances, an alternative payment arrangement may be considered. Please submit your payment proposal to the Revenue Team Leader. Alternatively, you can request the above in writing.

Payments should be sufficient to ensure full payment occurs within a period of time acceptable to the City. Any approved payment arrangement will be subject to a $39.20 arrangement fee, continued overdue interest accruals and other specified terms and conditions.

If you are unable to meet any of the payment options included on your rate notice, under certain circumstances, the City also offers alternative payment arrangements. Please submit your payment proposal to the Revenue Team Leader.

Financial counsellors can assist with money management strategies, advocate with creditors, and provide information about your options and rights.
