A highlight of the program is the free Totally Lit School Holiday Trail, running from Monday 5 to Sunday 11 October 2026. Children can follow a guided trail through Fremantle, complete pirate-themed challenges and collect a magnet at each of six stops. Together, the magnets create a limited-edition illustration by local author and illustrator James Foley. The trail is part of Totally Lit: Adventures in the Port City, which features almost 60 events from Friday 2 to Friday 16 October 2026. The Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre will host Nyoongar storytime and painting sessions for young children and their families on Wednesday 23 September, Friday 25 September, Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October 2026. Led by First Nations artists, the sessions introduce children to Nyoongar stories and culture through storytelling and creative activities. Young people can give pre-loved clothing a second life at the free Fremantle Youth Clothes Swap at Fremantle Library on Friday 2 October 2026. BUSTER! in the Koort will also return to Walyalup Koort on Wednesday 7 October 2026, with free toys and activities for children. The session is best suited to children aged up to six years, but older children are welcome. Families can also join the Fremantle Leisure Centre’s Holiday Swim Program or visit one of more than 70 parks and reserves across the city. Some activities require bookings.
