The City of Fremantle is inviting the community to be part of a growing digital archive through the Map of Memories – an interactive platform where people can share personal stories, photos and moments connected to places across Fremantle. From first jobs and family traditions to chance encounters and lifelong friendships, every memory helps build a richer picture of Fremantle’s history, told by the people who know it best. Fremantle has a strong and well-documented heritage, but it’s the personal stories that bring places to life. The Map of Memories captures these moments, creating a shared record of experiences that might otherwise go untold. The platform is open to everyone – whether you live here now, grew up in Fremantle or simply have a meaningful connection to the area. Adding a memory is simple. Users can drop a pin on the map, upload a photo and share their story in just a few minutes. Whether it’s a favourite café, a childhood home, a local beach or a moment that stayed with you, your story is part of Fremantle’s story. This project was first developed by the City of Fremantle in 2020 as part of the Heritage Festival, with help from local historians, photographers, and community contributors.
