Young people

Fremantle is a place for young people, offering a range of activities throughout the year in a safe environment.

Hanging out, meeting friends, seeing live music, doing shopping, as well as working or studying, Fremantle wants young people to be engaged in community life.

Fremantle is a destination City with a diverse demographic of young individuals and the City is committed to making our community inclusive and accessible to everyone.

The Youth Strategy is a guiding document that will assist the City in engaging with young people 12–25 who live, study, work or visit Fremantle. Read the full strategy below.

ChangeMakers Program

The ChangeMakers Program supports young people aged 18 to 30 to understand how change happens, develop strategic leadership skills, and actively influence the policies, plans, and projects that shape Fremantle’s future.

If you care deeply about Fremantle and want to turn your passion into action, ChangeMakers gives you the tools, access, and confidence to make a real difference.

For the fourth year in a row, Speed cubing Australia is back for Freo Cube-Off 2026!

A classic competition for West Aussies and beyond every year.

Whether you’re a seasoned tableflipper or you’ve never rolled a d20 before, tabletop gaming has never been as important (or as big) as it is today.

And that’s because we, as a society, are realising we can’t just live by the light of our phones. We’ve got to get in front of real people, make real connections, and really, truly laugh.

The dice, the cards, the minis that take 6 months to paint — these are the tools with which we tell our shared stories. Stories of spectacular victory, crushing defeat, and total buffoonery. Stories in which lifelong friendships are forged.

But life is hectic, and it can sometimes feel impossible to get even a small group together to roll dice and slap cards.

That’s why we made Tabletop Freo. And that’s why we’re working so hard to make this event as big and fun as possible.

Roll For It is a celebration of nerd culture in Fremantle.

It’s a rallying cry to show all the tabletop gaming nerds who have yet to come out of the woodwork that there is a home for them here.

It’s a call out to you, dear friend. Whatever your game, whatever your story, the day is for you.

Every June at the Fremantle Town Hall.

Fremantle Pride Fest was created by previous ChangeMakers from the City of Fremantle’s mentorship program, with planning and delivery supported by the city’s Community Development Team. This free, non-alcoholic, all-ages event brings together live music, art, market stalls, pottery, screen printing, face painting and more in the heart of Fremantle.

With limited LGBTQIA+SB services south of the river, Fremantle Pride Fest brings essential programs and initiatives to the community, supporting health, wellbeing, and social connection. By fostering inclusion and belonging, the festival strengthens connections across Fremantle and creates a space where everyone can feel valued and celebrated.

Join us at Fremantle Pride Fest to celebrate diversity, connect with community, and enjoy a vibrant program of events designed for young people and allies alike.
