City of Fremantle
Coastal Charm
Jemima Williamson-Wong was elected to the City of Fremantle Council in October 2023 as a Coastal Ward representative.
As a fifth generation Fremantle resident, Jemima holds a deep love for the remarkable Fremantle community. She remains inspired by the community’s commitment to high stakes issues and feels encouraged to contribute to a better future for all.
A student of Law and Sustainable Development at Murdoch University, Jemima has been involved in the climate movement for many years. She currently acts as a WA State Coordinator for the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), working to grow a movement of young people actively pushing for a better future. When Jemima isn’t studying or leading an AYCC meeting, you’ll find her working down at Gage Roads.
‘Community’ is at the core of Jemima’s approach to decision making. To her, Fremantle is the ultimate community, unified by the care for each other and place. She wants to champion decision making from a baseline of community. This includes ensuring the improvement and support of Fremantle’s accessibility, sustainability, creativity and diversity.
Jemima is passionate about bringing a climate justice lens to decision making, interested in how good quality urban design is the core to shaping the spaces for community to thrive in, and excited to be able to bring a new perspective to Council.
Throughout all her ventures, Jemima seeks to remain focused in the pursuit of community and connection. She is passionate about sustaining and continuing to enhance the core values of Fremantle and engaging in authentic conversations with the community to ensure that the decisions made by Council reflect them.
